Duration: About 6-7 hours 8:00 am, meet with your tour guide and transfer to visit Angkor National Museum. The visit serves as an excellent primer to the gems of Angkor before visiting the temples. The museum provides a potentially large collection of relics, texts and audiovisual presentations relating to the Angkorian era. With even a basic knowledge of the history and symbolism of the architecture, you will have a much richer and more engaging experience visiting the temples. Next, we will visit the APOPO Visitor Center to experience the realities of humanitarian demining and how we train rats to save lives. You will learn about landmines, how we clear them, and see a live demo of the HeroRATs. Learn about how Cambodia became one of the most mine-affected countries in the world. You will also visit Wat Thmey Pagoda, which was served as a Killing Field in Pol Pot regime. A unique glass-walled stupa containing the bones of victims of the Khmer Rouge is still there until today. Lunch at local restaurant on your own account Afternoon, browse through Phsar Chas (AKA Old Market) on the heart of the city and along the Siem Reap riverside. Your city tour will be ending after visiting the handicraft center of Artisans d’ Angkor. Founded in 1992, this organization creates job opportunities for young people in rural areas, while reviving traditional Khmer craftsmanship (stone and wood carving, painting on statues and on silk, lacquering, and silver plating). * Included for the day: - Private vehicle and driver - English speaking tour guide - Entrance fees all sightseeing places - Cold water and towel * Excluded all not mentioned above
