Siem Reap Province will organize the "Smile of Cambodia" event, second edition, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The event will take place on October 29-30, 2024, in the Angkor Wat temple complex.
The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the Khmer Artists Association, and the Union of Cambodian Youth Federations are planning to host this celebration. The two-day event will include the following activities:
Day 1 (October 29, 2024): "The Glory of the Angkor Empire"
- Opening ceremony presided over by Her Excellency Dr. Phoeurng Sackona (in front of Bayon Temple)
- Procession of Khmer kings from the Angkor era (featuring 500 performers)
- Tevoda dance (face-painted performers)
- Lakhon Khol (masked dance-drama)
- Photo opportunities for tourists
Day 2 (October 30, 2024): "Smile of Cambodia"
- Art exhibitions and Khmer food tasting
- Entertainment and dancing
- Photo sessions and interviews with famous Cambodian celebrities
- Various media engagements in front of Bayon Temple
- The event will conclude based on practical considerations (such as when food runs out or in case of inclement weather)
This celebration aims to commemorate the 20th anniversary of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni's ascension to the throne. The organizers invite both domestic and international tourists to participate in large numbers and enjoy the festivities.
The "Smile of Cambodia" event showcases the rich cultural heritage of Cambodia, blending historical reenactments with modern entertainment.
